Description

For months, our team has been working to create a digital version of Macbeth Muet that will delight theater lovers. Today, we are thrilled to offer you a brand-new iteration of this production and are confident it will deliver emotions just as vivid and colorful.

In this original production, two actors take on the challenge of performing Shakespeare’s classic without uttering a single word. Inspired by silent film and flirting with grand‐guignol melodrama, this adaptation carries us with humor and passion on a breakneck race for power. In an accelerated, blood-soaked recounting of the doomed couple’s downfall, Macbeth Muet deconstructs Shakespeare’s tragedy through visceral theater, using bodies, objects, and stage blood in an amoral world where human lives are as disposable as styrofoam cups.

In this unique filmic performance—performed, captured, and broadcast live—audiences from around the globe can now immerse themselves in the world of Macbeth Muet. Using five cameras, including one handheld camera fully integrated as a new “character” in this precise choreography, the fall of the cursed couple is revealed to us in disarming intimacy.

Supported from the outset by the Société des arts technologiques de Montréal and the Pitoresk video production company, we have created a show that skillfully blends live art and digital art, bringing artists and audiences together despite any obstacles.

Accompanied by an intense and surprising soundtrack ranging from Baroque to late ’80s pop, the two actor-puppeteers deliver a high-wire choreography, no matter how you choose to view it.

A heartfelt thank you to PME-MTL Centre-Est, the SAT, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, and the Conseil des arts de Montréal, without whom this digital adaptation would not have been possible.
