Synopsis

Inspired by silent films, Macbeth Muet flirts with Grand Guignol and melodrama.

In a frenzied and blood-soaked adaptation of the doomed couple’s downfall, Macbeth Muet deconstructs Shakespeare’s work through visceral theatre. Inspired by silent films, and flirting with Grand Guignol and melodrama, this wordless adaptation of Macbeth sweeps us away with humour in a frantic race toward power. Bodies, objects and fake blood intertwine in a world devoid of morality, where human lives prove as fleeting as disposable cups.

In Macbeth Muet, Macbeth, a soldier loyal to his nation, encounters three witches on the battlefield who predict that he will become king. Following this revelation, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth choose the bloody path of ambition, betrayal and power.

Carried by an intense soundtrack, the performer-puppeteers deliver a breathtaking choreography.
