Description

On the edge of himself, a traveler finds himself facing an unknown and intriguing world. To fit in, he must learn the lively language of TONG’s inhabitants, where vowels and consonants dance off the tip of the tongue. He will discover the world of the exponential, where his identity is tested through the chaos of novelty!

Inspired by Kurt Schwitters’s Ursonate, a sound poem created in the 1920s–1930s, La Fille Du Laitier dives into the world of Dadaism, that singular and surprising artistic movement. The performance explores the theme of the unknown—an integral part of our lives at every scale, whether we are children, teenagers, or adults. The unknown to cross, to discover, to tame. The unknown that sparks both fear and curiosity. And above all, how to let oneself be transformed by this unknown without losing oneself.

Reviews

“Their show, well-balanced and tailored for audiences of all ages, possesses depth, and their impeccable performance brought a smile to many!”

“Tong touched my heart. I love it when theater is profound and addresses both children and adults. Your proposal is really very topical in that it touches on inescapable social issues. (...) What you do enables people to become more sensitive beings (at the risk of jolting them a little in their comfort zone). Thank you very much again!”

“As part of the Journées de la Culture, and in partnership with the municipalities of Val-David and Val-Morin, we presented TONG, an opera on the tip of the tongue. Audiences young and old enjoyed a different, rich and joyfully unsettling cultural experience. It was fascinating to see how the actors of La Fille Du Laitier told their story and brought us through a whole range of emotions, using a language invented and incomprehensible by words. The language of the heart was in the spotlight today.”
