This fall, La Fille Du Laitier enthusiastically continues the stage development of its most recent creation, Before Becoming a Tree, a co-production with Les Fabulateurs. This play, both poetic and profoundly human, tells the story of Ada, a child whose life is upended after the discovery of a mysterious seed. Blending the language of theatrical storytelling and puppetry, the work sensitively explores childhood confronted with illness, waiting, and the fear of immobility.
For the past two years, the project has been evolving through several stages of research and artistic experimentation. The team has had the opportunity to develop the creation thanks to residencies at Théâtre Alphonse-Desjardins and Maison de la culture Claude-Léveillée. These privileged moments allowed for refining the dramaturgy, testing the encounter between actors and puppets, and reflecting on a scenography capable of expressing both the fragility and strength of Ada’s emotions.
In December 2025, a new stage of work will be shared at Théâtre de la Ville in Longueuil. Presenters will have the chance to attend this intermediate showing, offering a concrete glimpse into the project’s artistic direction and scenic potential. This residency showing marks a pivotal step before the official premiere scheduled for spring 2026.
