Jon Lachlan Stewart

Co-Founder

Jon is four-legged energy in motion.

An anglophone who left his home country to live and create in Montreal, Jon is drawn to the satirical and playful body on stage, as well as to the precision of moving images to tell stories that are funny, touching, and troubled — both about our planet and about ourselves.

In Montreal and on tour, Jon co-created Macbeth Muet with Marie-Hélène Bélanger and the company La Fille du Laitier. With his own company, Surreal SoReal, he created The King Stinks, Big Shot, Jonathan: The Seagull Persona, and Madame Catherine prépare sa classe de troisième à l’irrémédiable, and also produced Beau Gars, presented at Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui.

Jon has performed at the Centaur, the Segal Centre, and Théâtre Prospero, as well as with Théâtre Motus and Daniel Léveillé Danse (Ainsi Parlait, Logique du Pire, Malaise dans la Civilisation).

Coming up, Jon will direct King Lear, translated by Jean-Marc Dalpé, collaborate with dancer and choreographer Kimberly de Jong on a project inspired by the graphic novel Cycle, and develop a new solo piece, La Lumière Impossible, featuring a living light as a puppet-like character.
